The New York Yankees landed the top left-handed starting pitcher available this off-season in CC Sabathia (right) and added a top-flight right-handed starter in A.J. Burnett. The two visited the Bronx on Dec. 18 during a news conference. Sabathia, who had a 17-10 record with a 2.70 ERA last year with the Cleveland Indians and Milwaukee Brewers, signed a $161-million, seven-year contract that includes a $9-million signing bonuns. In 17 starts with Milwaukee, he threw seven complete games and three shutouts, helping the Brewers reach the postseason for the first time since 1982. Burnett, who went 18-10 with a 4.07 ERA for Toronto last season, signed an $82.5-million, five-year deal.
