Mitt Romney has spent millions of dollars and hundreds of hours in Iowa, hoping to use a good showing there  to gain momentum nationally. Recent polling shows, however, that Mike Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, has made major inroads, especially among evangelical Christians. In a speech in Texas in early December, Romney vowed that he would not shrink from his Mormon faith. "Some believe that such a confession will sink my candidacy. If they are right, so be it," he said. "But I think they underestimate the American people."
