Police: Woman advertising 'Vampire Facelifts' arrested in salon death

A 45-year-old woman accused of advertising that she conducted procedures including "Vampire Facelifts" and "butt augmentation" was arrested in connection with a suspicious death at a Long Beach beauty salon, police said Thursday evening.

Sandra Perez Gonzalez rented a treatment room at Areli's Beauty Salon, where she also provided massages, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers responded to the salon Wednesday and found firefighters performing CPR on Hamilet Suarez, 36, a Long Beach resident who police said was in cardiac arrest "under suspicious circumstances." She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

"Inside the treatment room, detectives found medical equipment and multiple vials of controlled substances which were used for medical procedures," police said in a statement.

Police said Gonzalez is a recently licensed massage therapist but is not licensed to conduct medical procedures or administer substances found at the salon. She was arrested Thursday on suspicion of possessing controlled substances and was being held at the Long Beach jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Police said they are working with the coroner's office, which is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of Suarez's death.

Anyone with information regarding Gonzalez and the procedures is asked to call Det. Scott Lasch or Det. Donald Goodman at (562) 570-7244.
