A shooter in custody targeted his sibling outside the victim's home Saturday evening

A 40-year-old man accused of shooting his older brother remained in custody Sunday after police arrested him at the victim's South Los Angeles home.

The suspect allegedly shot his sibling around 9 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of East 78th Street, according to Sgt. Jeff Vach of the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street station. Vach said the shooter walked toward his brother in front of the victim's home and pulled the trigger before fleeing the scene.

The victim was identified as Derrick Anthony Hill, according to investigator Betsy Magdaleno of the Los Angeles County coroner's office. He was pronounced dead after arriving at a hospital, Vach said.

The victim's brother, Louis Hill, was arrested at 8:20 a.m. Sunday and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's department online jail records.
