Hiker injured in Hollywood Hills airlifted to hospital

A hiker was airlifted out of Fryman Canyon Park in the Hollywood Hills on Thursday after falling 30 feet down a hard-to-reach embankment.

At about 7:45 a.m., Los Angeles firefighters received a call concerning an injured hiker in the 8400 block of Mulholland Drive, said Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

The man sustained a leg injury during the fall, Humphrey said, and rescuers determined that because of the hiker's location, it would be best to airlift him out.

The man, who was in his 20s, was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Humphrey said.
