Francois Jacob

The French biologist shared the 1965 Nobel prize for medicine with colleagues Jacques Monod and Andre Lwoff. They identified messenger RNA which carries the blueprint for a protein from cellular DNA to the ribosome. Their achievement ushered in the modern age of molecular biology. Jacob was 92.
