'The Shining' (1980)

Jack Torrance, portrayed by <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB003305" title="Jack Nicholson" href="/topic/entertainment/movies/jack-nicholson-PECLB003305.topic">Jack Nicholson</a>, takes a job as the hotel's winter caretaker, his wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and son Danny (Danny Lloyd) in tow. Jack learns that the previous caretaker, driven mad by cabin fever, murdered his family. Danny receives horrifying premonitions and begins seeing strange apparitions in the hotel. As Jack descends into madness, the lines between reality, insanity and the supernatural are blurred.
