After zooming back into public view last week with the Paul Thomas Anderson-directed video for her song "Hot Knife," Fiona Apple announced Monday that she'll tour the United States this fall.
Set to launch Oct. 3 in Portland, Ore., the trek is billed as Anything We Want: An Evening with Fiona Apple & Blake Mills. Mills is the L.A.-based guitarist who worked as a member of Apple's live band during shows in support of her 2012 comeback record, "The Idler Wheel..."; he's also played with Jackson Browne, Sara Watkins and Julian Casablancas of the Strokes, and co-founded Simon Dawes, which following his departure became the L.A. band Dawes.
TIMELINE: Summer's must see concerts
In a statement, Apple and Mills said the upcoming tour will be "something special, and we aren't being coy here -- it's just that we have about 26% of an idea" of what they'll be playing. That uncertainty, they added, "excites us."
The tour is scheduled to stop at L.A.'s Walt Disney Concert Hall on Oct. 7; tickets for that show are to go on sale Saturday.
