Ned Vizzini

A successful young adult author, Ned Vizzini had written about being afflicted with depression in the novel "It's Kind of a Funny Story," which was made into the 2010 film starring Zach Galifianakis. Vizzini, who started writing as a teenager in New York, had made a career in Hollywood while co-authoring the middle-grade adventure "House of Secrets" with filmmaker Chris Columbus. He was 32 when he took his life Dec. 19 in New York; he is survived by his wife and son.
