Where to begin?
Let's start with Malibu Mel. On the verge of a career comeback, Mel Gibson found himself in hot water again, when tapes of Gibson allegedly screaming and yelling at his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva surfaced in the media. Racial slurs, threats and hints of physical abuse made up the six recordings. While police began investigating claims that Gibson had hit Grigorieva, he accused her of extortion. The couple are now in a custody battle over their young daughter.
And, of course, Lindsay Lohan got a big wake-up call and a dose of celebrity justice when a judge sentenced her to 90 days in jail and 90 days in rehab. The actress broke down in court when the sentence was handed down and passive-aggressively showed her feelings via a painted middle finger nail. The saga involved probation violations, a SCRAM ankle bracelet and a sentencing that was perhaps more dramatic than her entire prison term. LiLo endured 13 days behind bars before moving to a rehab facility to finish out the second part of her punishment. Aside from a small reprieve to spend Thanksgiving with No. 1 Dad Michael Lohan, she's scheduled to be in treatment until early 2011.
"American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino ran into some problems of her own in August, just before the release of her new album, "Back to Me." First, Paula Cook slapped her with a lawsuit claiming Fantasia had broken up her marriage to Antwuan Cook and that the duo had even filmed some of their sexual encounters. Hours after the allegations hit the news, Barrino was hospitalized after a suicide attempt, allegedly taking aspirin and a sleep aid. Since her release from the hospital, she has testified in the Cooks' divorce case that she knew Antwuan was married and has been photographed with Antwuan, filming what could be reality-show footage.
Meanwhile, "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen reportedly took out his aggressions on an unsuspecting hotel room. The room also contained his freak-out companion, Christina Walsh -- porn name Capri Anderson -- who locked herself in the bathroom and called a friend for help. She later filed a criminal complaint against him while his camp alledged she tried to extort $1 million from him and that she stole his missing $165,000 Patek Philippe watch. He also filed for divorce from wife Brooke Mueller.
In case this wasn't all bizarre enough, might we also mention Randy and Evi Quaid? The " National Lampoon" actor and his wife didn't run to Canada to escape vandalism charges, or because they allegedly defrauded a Santa Barbara inkeeper; they're hiding from the Hollywood star-whacker consipracy that offed Heath Ledger, David Carradine and Natasha Richardson.
