<a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORSPT000021" title="Oakland Athletics" href="/topic/sports/baseball/oakland-athletics-ORSPT000021.topic">Oakland Athletics</a> centerfielder Rajai Davis has been in the Major Leagues since 2006, when he made his debut with the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORSPT000023" title="Pittsburgh Pirates" href="/topic/sports/baseball/pittsburgh-pirates-ORSPT000023.topic">Pittsburgh Pirates</a>. A backup for most of his career, Davis was inserted into the Athletics' starting lineup on June 3, 2009, to replace injured starter Ryan Sweeney. Davis played Little League baseball in Willimantic and attended New London High School and the University of Connecticut-Avery Point in Groton.
