Bryce Curtin, 9, a third-grader at the Annie Fisher STEM Magnet School, explains his invention, The Sliding Smart Board, to Bill Meyers, of East Haddam, for the Connecticut Invention Convention. About 170 student inventors decended on the State Capitol and the Legislative Office Building Wednesday to display and demonstrate their inventions. Several will move on as finalists in the main event May 17 at the University of Connecticut that will include 700 young inventors from around the state. Meyers was there because his son had a display from Nathan Hale-Ray Middle School. The Sliding Smart Board allows students to raise and lower the smart board as needed.
