Legislative Hearing On Gun Violence

Frank Cornwall of Trumbull goes through a metal detector at the Legislative Office Building Monday as state legislators began hearing testimony on gun control proposals at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. Checking him in are Capitol security officers, from left, Robert Holmgren and Brian Skehan. Cornwall is the founder of Defense Associates, of Milford, which provides high level firearms training. He said that he had already provided written testimony for the hearing which related that an emotional response to the Newtown tragedy as opposed to a factual one is not the way to deal with the firearms issue. Limiting options for self defense would put more people in jeopardy, he said. At the hearing some Newtown families called for new restrictions on guns and the firearms industry warned of damage to the state's economy.
