Hartt Trombone Ensemble Benefit For Newtown

Anna Harris of Simsbury gives her daughter, Soren, 2, a kiss as they sit in the audience as the Hartt Trombone Ensemble performed a selection of Christmas songs in a benefit concert to support the Newtown community Monday night in the Millard Auditorium on the University of Hartford campus. Harris, a University of Hartford adjunct faculty member, said her husband went to high school with Jimmy Greene, a UH alumnus and famed saxophone player whose daughter was one of the victims in the Newtown tragedy. "It's a nice way to support [Newtown] in a family-friendly way," she said of the concert. The benefit raised $1,161.02 for the Sandy Hook School Support Fund. STEPHEN DUNN, Hartford Courant
