Connecticut is lucky to play host to one of the nation's longest-running St. Patrick's Day parades. The New Haven parade stepped off for the first time on March 17, 1842, and it has become a yearly institution for families regardless of Irish heritage, winding its way through downtown on the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day proper. Hartford's parade is Saturday, and there's a whole lot more going on to celebrate the green: bar events, road races and more parades. See pictures from last year's events and more on our St. Patrick's Day page.
