An Avon company that makes kitchen thermometers is recalling some of its products because of a potential for food contamination.

The company, iDevices LLC, is recalling all Pro Ambient Temperature Probes and Pro Meat Probes manufactured from May 2014 through June 2014. The items were also sold as an accessory for the iGrill, the iGrill2, and the iGrillmini thermometers and the Kitchen Thermometer and Kitchen Thermometer mini cooking thermometers. The probe was also sold as a component of the iGrill2 set.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the plastic insulator inside the stainless steel probes can melt into food because it is not heat resistant.

An alert dated Wednesday and posted on the commission's website said iDevices received 11 reports that the probe's plastic insulator had melting during normal use, although no injuries were reported.

Consumers were urged to contact iDevices for a free replacement.
