Is there a connection between violent video games and mass shootings? Some killers, like Adam Lanza, have reportedly been avid fans of violent video games. Playing at killing for hours, as some mass killers have done, would seem to desensitize young people to actual violence. Whether it makes gamers into killers, however, is unclear. Studies haven’t shown a clear connection between violent games and violent behavior. Democratic Vice President Joe Biden says the issue needs more study, and a bill in the Connecticut legislature is calling for a task force to study links between violent video games and behavior. (Another bill would tax “mature”-rated video games.) What do you think? Is there a connection between video games and shootings?
