Nonfat yogurt trumps mayonnaise

If you're bringing side dishes like potato salad or macaroni salad, consider replacing mayonnaise (or other fatty white sandwich spreads) with cottage cheese, nonfat ricotta cheese or vinegar. You'll avoid the five grams of fat and over 50 calories in mayonnaise this way.
