William S. Gasparrini, 84, Greenwich: $17.9 million

Gasparrini, who attended Cheshire Academy and later the Clarkson Institute of Technology, was the owner of Post Road Iron Works, an iron and steel fabricating business. From 1987 to 1996 he was a partner in RMS Titanic Inc., an enterprise involved in retrieving artifacts from the wreck of the Titanic. The iron works company was founded by his father in 1927 as a small blacksmith shop. After joining in 1950, Gasparrini grew the business into a commercial enterprise that employed more than 70 people. H was president until his retirement in 1999, then he became chairman of the board. He was a founding member of National Ornamental Metal Museum in Nashville, Tenn.
