Kevin Dineen

In 2005, former Whaler Kevin Dineen was named coach of the Portland Pirates, then the AHL affiliates of the Anaheim Ducks.  In 2006, he won the Louis A.R. Pieri Memorial Award given to the AHL's most outstanding coach.  In 2008, the Pirates changed affiliates to the Buffalo Sabres, but Dineen stayed on as coach.<br>

He is pictured above coaching the Pirates against the Hartford Wolf Pack in his debut in 2005.  He proved he was still a winner as the Pirates defeated the Wolf Pack 7-4.
