WATERFORD — Report of gunfire or a small explosion Tuesday morning in the Quaker Hill part of town may have been a cannon fired to scare birds which posed no danger, police said.
Police were called to the area of 5 Applewood Drive Tuesday before 11 a.m. on reports from a local company about a loud explosion, police said. They received conflicting reports on what the origin of the blast could've been, police said.
After an initial search, police called in state police emergency services.
Police said they believe the sound may have come from a cannon used by a nearby neighbor to scare off birds, but are still investigating the cause.Copyright © 2015, CT Now
