Post your comments about this special report on slavery in Connecticut.

1. I'm glad to see, finally, admission of the North re your part in the national shame. You should look more closely into Jim Crow North also. My husband from NY says the"colored" waiting rooms, etc were there also. You can't move forward until you acknowledge your full complicity.

2. it is time to move forward, not constantly whine about the past, everybody has a dark past not just blacks, im sick of making apologies for something white people did prior to 1863.

3. Get over it? How can you, this is a piece of history. All History no matter how tragic, is something we can learn from. The holocaust will not be forgotten, nor the treatment of the American Indians, these are facts. People who dont care, say Get Over it.

4. Great job on how CT supported slavery, but no story of how CT blacks and whites helped abolish it. Many slaves won freedom fighting on the patriot side & from 1784-97 CT passed laws gradually abolishing it. CT helped show the world how slavery might be legally, gradually and peacefully abolished.

5. Things in lower New England started but with slavery, but it did not flourish. As bad as it was for those involved, would they prefer that their ancestors never made the trip across the ocean? The truly poor, impoverishedpeople of Appalachia are the real third world people in this country.

7. Helo Ellen! This country made a promise & broke it. This country also tolerated total injustice & look the other way. When this government pays up, that will be an admission "we wrong". Check out an article on blackvoices.com,"White Privilges".

9. Thorough exploration of all the aspects. Tied together with the history of abuse to the Native American Indians in CT, a sobering history. Thank you, Htfd Courant!
