2/26/2013-Here We Go Again

Polls show that most people in the United States don't know or understand what "sequestration" means. I think the confusion comes from the fact that most of us equate that word with jury duty. When a jury is charged with rendering a verdict away from the public, i.e. their families and friends, they're sequestered, locked in a room and put up in hotel rooms until they decide the fate of the defendant.

Online Merriam-Webster defines it thus:
1. The act of sequestering : the state of being sequestered <a jury in
2. A legal writ authorizing a sheriff or commissioner to take into custody the
of a defendant who is in contempt until the orders of a court are complied with
b : a deposit whereby a neutral depositary agrees to hold property in litigation
and to restore it to the party to whom it is adjudged to belong

None of this says anything about across the board cuts in government spending. President Obama's right. This should be called "fiscal meat cleaver." Obama himself proposed this solution to government spending and the Republicans are calling his bluff. Frankly, I'm fed up with the whole clown car of our federal government.

Congress' way of doing things reminds me of the United States Army's Vietnam War policy of burning villages to the ground. The gummint thinks it may have to destroy the United States in order to save it.
