"Pup 49" rehabilitates in Mystic

MYSTIC, CT - 3.29.2013 - HARBOR SEAL - Pup 49 appears to wink to visitors as she plays in her pool at Mystic Aquarium. For now she is named "Pup 49" and lives, plays and feeds at Mystic Aquarium where she is recovering from an amputated left hind flipper. Pup 49 is about 8 months old and was rescued last July by the New England Aquarium after a brutal attack by an older seal left deep wounds all over her body. She's not a trained seal and will not be released to the wild. Veterinarians amputated one of her two hind flippers to prevent a stubborn infection from spreading throughout her body.
