Pictures: Movies With 'American' In The Title

By SUSAN DUNNE, sdunne@courant.com In the last 40 years, since "American Graffiti" came out in 1973, putting the word "American" in a movie's title seems calculated to inspire instant identification with the characters. The cliche shows no signs of ending: The most recent example being "American Hustle," a drama about a con man, which opens Dec. 20. A search on the Internet Movie Database brings up about 200 results. Here's are just a few "American" classics. The Hartford Courant
