What brought me to Hartford in 2009 was my desire to do more … with the community, my career, socially … just more.
What I found was that "Hartford Has It" all!
In Hartford, I found an amazing group of young professionals called HYPE (Hartford Young Professionals & Entrepreneurs). They introduced me to Hartford, its residents, neighborhoods, arts, food, nightlife, opportunities, new wonderful friends, my amazing husband and a new passion for the city around me.
What keeps me in Hartford? There are new things every day that help to nurture my love and passion for the city and the people here. I'll highlight a few.
Our neighborhood is beautiful, friendly, fun, supportive, diverse and inclusive. We host movie nights in the backyard, gather at community music events with picnics, have pumpkin carving parties, block parties, community dinners and more. Pets and children are looked after by all and careers, hobbies and passions are supported. And I bet if you had to guess which neighborhood I lived in, it might take you a few tries … because there are so many wonderful and similar neighborhoods in this great city.
There truly is always something going on! Every night of the week there is an event or an activity taking place. Whether it be a musical showcase at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, a park (take your pick) or a church; a fundraiser at Salute (or other local restaurant), the Connecticut Convention Center or elsewhere.
Events for children and families, such as Hodge Podge, Winterfest, a Wolf Pack game, a 5k run or walk to raise money for your favorite cause or a Hartford Public Library event. There are a variety of shows at Hartford Stage, TheaterWorks or the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. Large or small, there is always something great to do in Hartford.
A larger than you'd know group of individuals and organizations share my passion, or one even greater, and are involved in events throughout this city to help it grow and develop, to provide support to those who need it, and to educate those who aren't aware of all it has to offer. I hope to see that group and the folks who enjoy our city continue to increase not just year after year, but day after day.
