NORTH HAVEN — A New Haven man was charged with assault and risk of injury to a minor Wednesday after officers determined that he struck his 3-year-old daughter in the face, police said.
The girl was outside a Mobil gas station near Quinnipiac and Middletown avenues, her face covered in blood, police said. She was with her father, Elliot Sanchez, 44, who was laying on the ground, police said. They said the child had bruising around her eyes and right ear, a nose bleed and bruising on her arms.
Sanchez was held on $50,000 bond, police said. The child was taken to the hospital for treatment, and the state Department of Children and Families was contacted, police said.
