New Musical "The Bikinis" Gets Workshop at Goodspeed in August

Hartford Courant

Snooki, watch out. Here come The Bikinis.

A new musical, "The Bikinis," will get a workshop production at Goodspeed Musical's Norma Terris Theatre in Chester for a run Aug. 9 to Sept. 2.

The show centers on a reunion of a '60s girl group from the Jersey Shore to raise money to save Sandy Shores Mobile Home Beach Resort.

The show features juke box music from the '60s and '70s and some original songs, too.

Established songs include: "It's In His Kiss," "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini," "Heat Wave," and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough."

The show is conceived by Ray Roderick and written by Roderick and James Hindman. Roderick, who is also choreographing and directing the show, has staged numerous Goodspeed Opera House musicals including the current show, "Mame," as well as"Singin' in the Rain,""My One and Only," and "42nd Street."

He also directed the workshop of "Hello! My Baby" last year at the Norma Terris Theatre.

Hindman has acted in several Broadway shows, including "Mary Poppins," "1776" and "City of Angels."

Music Arrangements are by Joseph Baker with additional music and lyrics by Baker and Roderick.
