Torrington’s Warner Theatre will present the world premiere of a new musical, “Liberty, A Monumental New Musical” Saturday, June 30 to July 14.
The show, written by Dana Leslie Goldstein with music by Jon Goldstein, centers on a young French immigrant who arrives in the U.S. in 1884, amid anti-foreigner fervor, just as the Statue of Liberty was being erected in New York harbor. The production is produced in conjunction with the Warner Stage Company and marks the first time the Warner has partnered with a New York production company in preparation for a New York tour,
The show is directed by Igor Goldin (off-Broadway’s “Yank!”). In the title role is Madeline Brewer, a recent graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City.
The cast also includes: Lynn Beard, Bif Carrington, Brian Dann, Jamal Ford-Bey, Stephanie Haring, Mary Johnson, Vincent McCoy, James McKirdy, Meric Martin, Timmy Perry and Maureen Pollard.
Performances are Saturday, June 30 at 8 p.m., Sunday, July 1 at 3 p.m., Thursday, July 5 at 8 p.m., Friday, July 6 at 8 p.m., Saturday, July 7 at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 12 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, July 14 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
