Michael Cerveris Stars In Yale's 'A Soldier's Tale' Prior To NYC

Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris (Broadway’s “Assassins,” “Evita” “The Who’s Tommy,” “Sweeney Todd”) will star in a fully staged Igor Stravinsky's darkly comic “The Soldier’s Tale (L'histoire du Soldat)” at Yale's Morse Recital Hall in New Haven on April 1 at 8 p.m.

The show will be a “preview” of its presentation at New York’s Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall on April 6.

The show is a collaboration between the Yale School of Music and the Yale School of Drama, bringing together faculty and student musicians from the music school with the YSD’s faculty, student, and alumni designers, actors, and technicians.

Cerveris, an alumnus of Yale College, plays the lead role of The Reader. Three School of Drama students perform the remaining three roles: Tom Pecinka, James Cusati-Moyer and Mariko Parker.

The production has new translation by Liz Diamond, who also stages the show.

Overseeing the music direction is YSM professor David Shifrin.
