The Mark Twain House & Museum

The 19-room Mark Twain House in Hartford is where Twain lived from 1874 to 1891, and created the characters of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer. The house is a great example of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture, with a dramatic grand hall, a glass conservatory, a grand library and the handsome billiard room where Twain wrote his famous books. Visitors can take guided daily tours of Twain's home. There are also rotating exhibits on Twain's life and legacy in the adjacent museum and visitor center, opened in 2003. Handout
