The University of Connecticut, with its Storrs campus pictured here last fall, will continue its aggressive Next Generation Connecticut program, a state-funded expansion that will add hundreds of professors and thousands of students, with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math.
Under the plan, UConn will add nearly 250 faculty members over the next decade. Meanwhile, a different faculty hiring plan, a four-year-program that began in 2012, aims to reduce the student-faculty ratio to 15-to-1 by the 2015-16 school year.
