Lot of posturing going on these days. Governor Malloy is threatening to add a half percent to Connecticut's unemployment rate by laying off thousands and the Republicans in Washington are threatening to destroy the USA's credit and plunge the world into financial chaos if President Obama doesn't dance to their tune. As my father, Robert Wayne Englehart Sr. would say, it's all bullshit.
I resent these so-called leaders putting us through the wringer just to satisfy their egomaniacal lust for power. The Republicans will approve raising the debt ceiling and Malloy will balance the budget with minimal layoffs, if any.
This political posturing nonsense is enough to make a person give up politics and just do sports. Problem is, the failed system depends on smart, engaged people doing that very thing, dropping out. If the smart. engaged people drop out, only the sheep are left to vote for the Newts, Michelle Bachmanns and Sarah Palins of this country.
So, we have to stick with politics no matter how absurd it may get. We have to understand we can't leave, drop out, quit in disgust, or close our eyes and ears. If we did, it would make the friends of theocracy and the enemies of democracy very happy and we can't have that. We have to hold our noses and press on.Copyright © 2015, CT Now
