John Hinckley, Jodie Foster, 1980-81

American Nazi Party member John Hinckley stalked actress Jodie Foster in 1980-1981 while she was a student at Yale University.  Hinckley unsuccessfully attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan in 1981, as a way to impress Foster.<br>

Foster graduated magna cum laude from Yale with a degree in literature in 1985. Hinckley has been confined to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEO100104900000000" title="Washington (U.S. state)" href="/topic/us/washington-%28u.s.-state%29-PLGEO100104900000000.topic">Washington</a> since 1982, when he was found not guilty by reason of insanity in the shooting of Reagan.<br>
