Hello and let me introduce myself. My name is Ken Byron and I am the web host for the New Britain-area iTowns.
I'm 43 and grew up in Massachusetts. Being a reporter is something I have wanted to do since high school and aside from a mercifully brief stint washing dishes, working for newspapers is pretty much the only job I've ever had. I have hung around the Hartford Courant in one form or another since 1996. Prior to working for the Courant I was a reporter for the Record-Journal in Meriden and before that I covered towns in the lower Naugatuck Valley for the Evening Sentinel, a paper that was in Ansonia but which closed quite a while ago.
At the Courant, I have covered a variety of cities and towns across Connecticut. But most of my career here has been in the New Britain area and I think I know the region pretty well.
What makes this newest gig exciting for me is that the New Britain area is not just some part of Connecticut that I've been assigned to cover, but the place I call home. I live with my wife and daughter in Berlin, a town where I have been a resident since 1991. So you folks are not just sources, customers and readers, but neighbors as well.
