Kim Zimmerman, Farmington

Kim Zimmermann of Farmington created the artwork "Saurus," a 5-by-4-foot work of oil pastels and graphite on paper, featured on the this week's iTowns cover. "I have always loved drawing — textures, patterns, nature and hercreatures, the effect of light and line to create movement, layering and blending fundamental shapes and organic forms," she says. "I start with a graphite drawing, add color and the work of art reveals itself." She has been a docent at Wadsworth Atheneum for 16 years, and an art programs teacher for the state of Connecticut and Hill-Stead Museum. She is having a one-woman art opening at 6:30 p.m. June 6 at Center Framing & Art in West Hartford Center.
