Helen Frankenthaler (December 12, 1928 - December 27, 2011)

Frankenthaler was a revolutionary abstract expressionist painter. She exhibited her work for more than six decades (1950s through 2011), spanning several generations of abstract painters while continually creating ever-changing new work. She had a home and studio in Darien, Conn., according to the <a href="http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/obituaries/la-me-helen-frankenthaler-20111228,0,2519251.story">Los Angeles Times</a>.
