CTfastrak Construction Full Speed Ahead

Construction of the CTfastrak busway was well underway in this November 2013 photo around East Street in New Britain.

The new year brings the last big push for building the CTfastrak, also known as the busway ¿ the bus-only route linking New Britain, Newington, West Hartford and Hartford ¿ which is scheduled to begin service in February 2015. With the major bridges and much of the roadbed in place, contractors mostly will focus on constructing 11 stations along the route. By late summer, engineers want to be paving and landscaping, and bus drivers are scheduled to start training on the busway in October.
