As part of the Wadsworth Atheneum's First Thursday party, the Hartford-based HartBeat Ensemble will present a new 15 minute piece about the Harlem Renaissance -- “The Cotton Club on My Mind: A Harlem Renaissance Reminiscence,” based on “The Big Sea” by Langston Hughes.
Taneisha Duggan and Toussaint Jeanlouis are featuired in the opuiece written by Talvin Wilks and directed Brian Jennings.
The showtimes are: 6:15, 6:45, 7:15 pm.
During the evening, audience members are also invited to create jazz-inspired art, tour the Contemporary
Memories exhibition and listen to music by Artists Collective musicians.The Wadsworth will also have free food, salsa lessons, and access to the entire museum.
The evening is a collaboration with the Amistad Center for Art and Culture and Artists Collective.

Afterwards the Wadsworth will be screening the Francis Ford Coppola film, "The Cotton Club."
