The 184-acre park is situated on a hill overlooking the Connecticut River in East Haddam, and has several hiking trails and picnic areas. The 24-room mansion was built by actor/playwright William Gillette between 1914 and 1919, using local fieldstone over a steel framework.
Admission to the park is free. The Interior of Gillette Castle is open for tours from Memorial Day Weekend to Columbus Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fee is $6 for adults (13 and over) and $2 for children ages 6-12. Admission is free for children 5 and under.
