( Andrea Wise/Hartford Courant / July 25, 2012 ) Hall is an editor, literary critic and poet. Born in Hamden, he is the author of more than 50 books across several genres. Hall is considered to be one of the major American poets of his generation. His poetry explores the desire for a more idyllic past and reflects his reverence for nature. In 2006, Hall was appointed as the 14th Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress for one year.
