Dick Allen (born August 8, 1939)

<a href="http://articles.courant.com/2011-06-30/features/hc-writestuff-0630-20110630_1_poet-laureate-sunken-garden-poetry-festival-hill-stead-museum">Allen</a> is a poet, academic and literary critic. He is currently serving a five-year term as poet laureate of Connecticut from 2010 through 2015. Prior to his retirement, Allen was Charles A. Dana Professor of English and Director of Creative Writing at the University of Bridgeport, where he taught from 1968 to 2001.
