David Linday-Abaire, Theresa Rebeck At Playwrights Panel At Mark Twain House

A playwrights' panel featuring Pulitzer Prize-winner David Lindsay Abaire (“Rabbit Hole”) and Pulitzer finalist Theresa Rebeck will be held April 27 at 2:45 at Hartford’s Mark Twain House & Museum as part of its 2nd Annual Writers’ Weekend.

The three-day event provides writers from different genres to meet and hear from professionals in the field. Subjects include fiction, non-fiction, mystery writing, poetry and writer’s block.

Lindsay-Abaire’s credits also include “Good People,” “Kimberly Akimbo,” “Wonder of the World” and “Fuddy Meers.” He is one of the screenwriters of the Disney film, “Oz the Great and Powerful,” as well as the Dreamworks animated film, “Rise of the Guardians” and the Broadway musicals, “Shrek” and “High Fidelity.” He is working on adapting the 1980s horror film “Poltergeist.”

Rebeck’s plays include Broadway’s “Dead Accounts,” “Seminar” and “Mauritius.” Other works include “Bad Dates” and “The Understudy.” She has been a creator/producer and writer for NBC’s “Smash” and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.”

Also on the panel is Nikkole Salter whose credits include the Obie Award-winning “In the Continuum,” written with Danai Gurira. Her solo works as a writer include “Carnaval,” a piece recently premiered at Luna Stage, “Repairing a Nation” and “Of Great Merit.”

Moderating the panel will be Frank Rizzo, theater writer and critic for The Hartford Courant and New England critic for Variety. He has also written for American Theater magazine, the Sondheim Review and the New York Times.
