MANCHESTER- 1/29/13- Sarah Wilby, Animal Program Curator at the Lutz Children's Museum, gives Chuckles VIII some peanuts during feeding time Tuesday prior to the groundhog's big day on Saturday. This new Chuckles will be sworn in as the official state groundhog by Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman on Groundhogs Day Saturday morning during the 6:00 am ceremony at the museum. Chuckles was found in May in a Vernon parking lot and was nurtured to health at the Lutz. It was determined that the animal could not survive in the wild so she will be living at the Lutz taking on her new role. The Groundhogs Day forecast prediciton will be handled by Manchester Mayor Leo Diana after the swearing in. "Because only the mayor speaks groundhog," said Wilby.
