Old Lyme, CT 11/07/2012 Paul Tinks, of Harwinton, shovels sand into the foundation of his home on Hawks Nest Beach in Old Lyme to protect the pipes from freezing. Trinks had just worked with a plumber to shut off the water to his rental home, which was knocked off its foundation by storm Sandy. People in the area were preparing for NorÕeaster Athena which was heading into the area.
