John Woike, Hartford Courant
WIlliam Hincks of East Hampton, left, holds up a pair of wool pants while Alan Crane shows an accurate way to see if the waistline of a pair of pants will fit by trying to touch the two ends of the waistline together while wrapping the pants around the neck. The technique drew plenty of laughs from fellow reenactors, some learning for the first time to be Civil War reenactors so they can join an estimated 5,000 others at Gettysburg in July. Tad Sattler, right, a leading Civil War reenactor, holds a jacket for Hincks, whose great-great grandfather fought at Gettysburg.
