( Library of Congress / February 25, 2013 ) Woodhouse was an educator and Congresswoman from the Second Congressional District in Connecticut, according to the Biographical Directory of the U.S. Congress. She was the second woman elected to Congress from Connecticut, and the first elected as a Democrat. Before that Woodhouse was a professor of economics at Connecticut College in New London, Conn. Her two non-consecutive terms (1945 to 1947, 1949 to 1951) as a Congresswoman drew upon her economics expertise. Woodhouse died in New Canaan. |
