Chase Going Woodhouse (March 3, 1890 - December 12, 1984)

Woodhouse was an educator and Congresswoman from the Second Congressional District in Connecticut, according to the <a href="http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=W000714">Biographical Directory of the U.S. Congress</a>. She was the second woman elected to Congress from Connecticut, and the first elected as a Democrat. Before that Woodhouse was a professor of economics at Connecticut College in New London, Conn. Her two non-consecutive terms (1945 to 1947, 1949 to 1951) as a Congresswoman drew upon her economics expertise. Woodhouse died in New Canaan.
