The pride of Mystic Seaport, the 1841 whaleship Charles W. Morgan, is on its way back to the water after a nearly 5 year restoration at the Seaport shipyard. Shipyard staff and volunteers used chains and winches to move the 300-ton ship onto the lift dock, center, located over the water in preparation for her launch. The vessel was moved sideways to align it with the lift and then will be rolled out onto the lift itself on Wednesday. The total distance will be several hundred feet. The actual re-launch will be a big ceremony on Sunday, July 21st.
