The work is described: "When the object of his affection off-handedly commented, 'too bad you’re not a girl,' Erwin disappeared to Casablanca and returned as Elvira. Now, adrift and alone, Elvira revisits the people and places of the past, desperately searching for the identity and love she’s never known."

The work was commissioned by the Rep with development and production support by Yale’s Binger Center for New Theatre and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
