Benjamin Fitch

Benjamin Fitch and his grand-nephew, Augustus B. Fitch, circa 1860. On July 4, 1864, some 3,000 people gathered for formal dedication of Fitch's Home for the Soldiers and Their Orphans in Noroton Heights in Darien. The home would later move to Rocky Hill and become the state Veterans Home and Hospital.
